There are some interesting videos of the commercials that feature the Texaco Big Friend on YouTube. We had one of these statues at a Texaco station in the small town where I grew up. Before he could be taken down, a big wind came along and blew him over and then, for several weeks, all that was left where his giant shoes and the lower parts of his legs below the knees.

I remember driving past him my whole life from when I was old enough to remember……about 1960…….never waved……that explains a lot
